Bush Impeachment Polls (updated)
Fri Jun 13, 2008 at 03:12:13 PM PDT
Thanks to Dennis Kucinich and his submission of 35 Articles of Impeachment against George W. Bush, impeachment talk is once again in the air!
Although, there are not many polling companies who have asked the question, "Should George W. Bush be impeached?", there have been a few. And, it's time to catalog those in one place and take a close look at what they tell us.
With impeachment diaries once again popping up and heated discussions on whether or not impeachment is warranted, popular or stands a chance of succeeding, are regular topics again. And many here seem to have some misconceptions. I'm going to focus on public perception here.
Here's what we know...
Rasmussen Has Bush at New Low
Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 01:00:06 PM PDT
This is going to be very short, but in light of the Articles of Impeachment submitted last night by Dennis Kucinich, it warrants a mention!

It looks like the revelations put forth in Scotty McClellan's new book, What Happened, have attracted the attention of the pro-impeachment Rep. Robert Wexler. It appears Wexler, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has some questions for Scotty!

If you actually thought for even a minute that Karl Rove was going to be appearing before the House Judiciary Committee come July 10th, this response from Robert Luskin (warning pdf) should put that thought out of your mind!
To call it a slap in the face would be an understatement! Follow me to the other side for a transcript!
Rationing of Rice in US begins
Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 07:11:06 PM PDT
Today, MSNBC and the Associated Press is reporting that Sam's Club and Costco began rationing the amount of rice you are allowed to purchase.
The two biggest U.S. warehouse retail chains are limiting how much rice customers can buy because of what Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., called on Wednesday "recent supply and demand trends."
This morning, long before I was out of bed, Steven R posted a diary that recieved very little notice. I think this deserves a great deal more attention!
A Letter to John Conyers...
Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 05:54:31 PM PDT
I've been so troubled by the testimony of Attorney General Michael Mukasey yesterday, that once again it is time to start writing letters, making phone calls, sending emails and demanding that the House of Representatives begin impeachment hearings for George Bush and Dick Cheney. Below the fold is the draft of my letter, I'm hoping some of you might take the time to help me clean it up a bit before I send it to John Conyers and a few other representatives.
It looks like John Conyers may be having second thoughts so I urge everyone to write him! Feel free to plagerize this letter any way you like!!

Sat Dec 08, 2007 at 12:50:55 PM PDT

So? What does this signal?
Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20) A follow-up
Tue Nov 13, 2007 at 12:41:30 PM PDT
Even in these days, it is rare that something so troubles me, that I find myself laying awake at night in outrage. But last weeks appearance of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on the Ed Shultz radio program discussing HR 333 and the impeachment of Dick Cheney, was one of those events! For those of you that may have missed it, please click on the link above and listen to the interview and follow me to the other side.

USA's Firings, Ties to Jack Abramoff?
Tue Mar 20, 2007 at 05:42:32 PM PDT
With so many Republican scandals to keep track of, the latest ones always seem to push the prior ones to the back burner. For the past few days, I've had this uneasy feeling that we may be missing a major part of the picture in regards to the firing of 8 United States Attorney's. Simply put, is any of this related to the investigation of Jack Abramoff?
Electronic Voting and the Myth of the Voter Verified Paper Trail
Sun Nov 26, 2006 at 03:46:36 PM PDT
Electronic touch screen voting has generated a great deal of interest and speculation on this site. Most are concerned the machines can be manipulated, hacked, votes changed, and there is plenty of circumstantial evidence to back those claims. We have good reason to worry!
I've spent a great deal of time thinking about our electronic voting machines. I've also spent a good deal of time thinking about how I would design and implement a voting system that could alter or manipulate the results of an election. I make no claims that Diebold, or any other manufacturers software works, as I'll describe. But I will say, what I'm about to present is 100% feasible, would be very easy to program, implement, and, if it was your desire to alter the results of an election, why a computer and touch screen monitor is a great choice. With or without a paper trail!
If I've peeked your interest, follow me over the fold for some programming lessons and some possible explanations to common questions, complete with user interaction!
Bush Drops Below 40% at Rasmussen
Wed Nov 22, 2006 at 11:54:23 AM PDT
I'm not sure who Rasmussen has been polling since the election. Perhaps they were only polling Bush's "base" to keep him above 40%. Since the election, their daily poll has even shown Bush gaining approval!
But it finally happened today! Bush approval drops to 39%, with only 18% strongly approving and 21% somewhat approving! The big news here? The disapproval rating is at 60% with 43% strongly disapproving and 17% somewhat disapproving
Sorry for the troll comments!!!
Thu Nov 02, 2006 at 05:34:09 PM PDT
Just a quick diary to apologize and explain the strange "This is a troll" comments that have been mistakenly applied to some of my fellow Kossacks comments.
Don't Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
Wed Jul 12, 2006 at 07:08:03 PM PDT
Today started like any other, power up the computer, grab a cup a coffee and head on over to the DailyKos to find out what happened while I was sleeping.
Then some weird shit started to happen. Strange Internet pages started popping up, I couldn't get my e-mail and Internet Explorer 6.0 started crashing. Ok, IE crashing is not all that unusual, but the pop-ups were freaking me out. I assumed that I had somehow obtained a virus and my machine was about to crash! So I ran a complete scan, nothing found, but strange shit keeps on happening!
What to do? What to do?
That Didn't Take Long...More Beheadings Updated
Sat Jun 10, 2006 at 08:48:37 PM PDT
I wondered how long it would be before this happened again. The
Guardian and the
NYT are reporting a new 15 minute video has been released on the internet, showing the beheadings of three Shiite death squad members.

SBS Dateline Austrailia - Abu Ghraib Video Link
Thu Feb 16, 2006 at 03:30:18 PM PDT
First, let me apologize for the one line diary entry. I had not seen this anywhere here and thought it would be of interest and want to make sure it gets as much exposure as possible before it disappears.
Here. is a link to the transcript from the February 15th SBS Dateline program and you can watch the entire 14 minute video of the program Here.
Perhaps there is someone here who can capture this video in the advent it gets scrubbed from view.
To say the least, it is outrageous and disgusting!!
If this has already been posted, please advise and I'll delete the diary.
Republican Governors and Abramoff Money
Sun Jan 15, 2006 at 12:49:35 PM PDT
Recently, the Associated Press
reported, the Republican Governors Association will donate to charity $500,000 in donations they received in October 2002 from a public affairs company owned by Michael Scanlon, a business partner of Jack Abramoff. Unfortunately, they have decided to do this over the course of 2 years and that's where I have a problem. From the article:
Romney said an internal review, triggered by questions about the donations on Tuesday from the AP, deemed the donations legal. But he and Gov. Sonny Perdue of Georgia, the RGA vice chairman, decided to split them equally over two years among Red Cross chapters in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas and Florida.
The move allows Romney and the RGA to avoid questions about the contributions while they are trying to help Republican governors win elections in 36 states this fall.
More on the flip!
