William "Bet A Million" Bennett would have us believe that Senator McCain is horribly injured. McCain did not invent this story.
"He can't raise his hands over his shoulders."
Maimed similar to Bob Dole.
Such is legacy. The Hero carries his wounds. Ordinary folk are impressed by suffering. Then along comes this:
The Hero waving to a crowd AFTER VIETNAM. The local GOPpers-in-KOS-clothing are begging that its photoshopped....
William Bennett is a best selling writer on the subject of morals. Conservative and corporate pundits support what he says.
Same for the Washington Post, Chicago Trib, New York Times, McCain's campaign, RNC. Honorable institutions. They say that aides comb The Hero's hair for him. But McCain's medical records do not support it.
Damn them lying eyes....
Or as Hillary must feel, damn that Bosnia videotape. Getting us to a nasty little thought: is McCain's arm-raising disability similar to Hillary's Bosnia trauma ?
Gee. What if two of the three finalists for the presidency share a problem ?
Wow - color me impressed. I guess Senator Straight Talk really is his own man. Direct from the NYT, McCain talks about the difficulties of waging the peace:
"If we find ourselves involved in a conflict in which American casualties mount, in which there is no end in sight, in which we take sides in a foreign civil war, in which American fighting men and women have great difficulty distinguishing between friend and foe, then I suggest that American support for military involvement would rapidly evaporate."
Obama did the right thing by praising Clinton following the Oregon and Kentucky vote, and working to reweave the fabric of Democratic unity. And I'm delighted that Clinton said, "No matter what happens, I will work as hard as I can to elect a Democratic president this fall." But then she insisted once again, that "we are winning the popular vote." This lie undermined every word she said about coming together.
I think we all know that we need to leave Iraq. The reasons have been chronicled by those who have a far better grasp of the situation than I do. I thought an interesting task though might be to argue for withdrawal of our forces using the words on John McCain. Many of you have probably seen the video clip and heard the quotes but I think McCain makes a compelling case for us to withdrawal troops, just substitute Iraq for Somalia or Bosnia.
Why are Democrats tolerating Hillary Clinton’s selfish juggernaut to destroy the Democratic Party? You’re sitting around allowing your nomination process to be corrupted, then asking, "Why can’t Obama close the deal?" Open your eyes. The man is fighting Hillary, Bill, the entire Republican Party, plus Rush Limbaugh and the entire FOX news staff.
Hillary Clinton lied. She lied about Bosnia sniper fire. She lied about why she said it (sleep deprivation, misspoke, there really was danger of attack, an age issue). This is the most under-reported issue of the campaign.
I wrote about this earlier in my posts here and here, but let’s review for a minute. In a nationwide debate, with millions of viewers watching, with the "gotcha" moderators Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopolous staring her in the face, Hillary spoke these words:
We used to laugh at Hillary's claim to having "a wealth of experience" and is the most qualified to be our next president. But when we began researching her life, we were amazed at the number of historical photos where she could be found.
Did you know she was there when Washington crossed the Delaware? Did you know General Patton was the first big general to endorse her? And would you be shocked to learn we found her at Woodstock?
This is a pictorial tour that takes a satirical look back (and ahead) at the many faces of Hillary Clinton, and all the great moments in history which could never have been the same without her.
My wife just told me about her lunch hour debate with a Clinton-supporting friend. When they got around to discussing the topic of electability, her friend insisted that Hillary was clearly more electable, citing her great Experience as an important factor.
My wife's coy response to this was, "Well, if by experience you mean experience dodging sniper fire, then no, Barack doesn't have comparable experience."
Now that we've delved pretty far into Obama's gaffe in San Francisco and his problems with Rev. Wright, we can ask how they stack up next to recent statements of Hillary. Let's just take two:
Overlooked in current discussions of Barack Obama's 'electability' is the glaring fact that Hillary Clinton doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning against the Republican Machine this fall. Her fatal flaw? Her 'sniper fire' memories of Bosnia. Barack Obama may have ignored the opportunity he had to savage her as a chronic liar due to certain high-minded principles that he embraces, but the Republicans have no such reservations. They will not hesitate to crucify her and define her as a habitual liar, a Typical Politician, and she would lose in a landslide at a time when the Democrats had an historical opportunity to transform the political landscape. Once this simple fact begins to sink into the minds of the uncommitted superdelegates, Clinton's campaign will finally come to a merciful end and we will be able to get around to the business of healing the Party.
The media sure are swallowing the Hillary Clinton talking points today.
Not too long ago some of Hillary’s leading supporters like Governor Rendell and New Jersey Governor John Corzine along with many of the political pundits said that Hillary ‘HAD’ to win in Pennsylvania by double digits to stay in this race. Some were even saying it had to be in the high double digits.
Today after a 9.2 margin win in PA, political pundits are calling it a huge win for Hillary and asking "what is wrong with Barack Obama? Why can’t he close the deal?"

I wrote my first diary about a month ago. It was about Hillary's sniper fire problem, and how it might mean the end of her campaign. Well, turns out Hillary has managed to survive since then, but it looks like maybe my original theory might now have more evidence to support it.

I’m one of those people who hates hypocrisy, especially when it’s practiced by those who would govern others. The Philadelphia debate between Senators Obama and Clinton provided a textbook example of hypocrisy. One the one hand, Senator Clinton asked that her lying not be held against her and on the other hand she pressed the guilt-by-association innuendo against Obama as far as she could.
