Congressional races by state: FL, CT, MI

Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 02:45:26 AM PDT

For previous diaries in this series, see here

I am all for running everywhere, and the 50 state strategy.

But neither we nor the Republicans are running everywhere (at least not yet!) In this series, I will look at where we are not running (I am not going to look at where Republicans are not running, as I have no desire to help Republicans, however modestly)

This diary is partly inspired by the great work done by BENAWU.

Wander below the fold for the good oil.

That's right!  Bush is feverishly zooming around the country trying to scare up votes in key races.  Races such as the Pennsylvania Senate race and Virginia Senate race...

...and the 1st Congressional District of Florida.

More on the flip.

Turning Red Blue: All over the South

Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 11:21:35 PM PDT

So I got this bug up my butt today about the fact that Dems in the South are not very well supported, and how there needs to be a major rebuilding of the party down here.  So I started over at ActBlue and came up with this.  I decided that I am not going to take it any more.  I am going to make myself have an active role in rebuilding the South for the Dems.

DCCC needs to support Grassroots

Wed Sep 13, 2006 at 01:00:34 PM PDT

The DCCC is hosting a major shindig for its Millionaire Boys Club of candidates it does support.

Joe Roberts could turn Northwest Florida blue with a fraction of what the DCCC is blowing on this photo op.

If the DCCC really is supposed to elect as many Democrats as possible, they should support the basic grassroots efforts that really work to get people elected to office.

More on the flip.

Energize America endorsed by Congressional Candidate in FL-01!

Sat Sep 09, 2006 at 12:33:34 PM PDT

Posted by Joe Roberts for Congress staff

Energy is one of the most important issues facing the United States today, which is the reason it has been and will continue to be a cornerstone of Joe Robert's campaign.  Reliable energy is vital to the economy, which makes it vital to our security.  Yet over the past twenty-five years Republicans have kept us firmly in a fossil fuel economy that places us in the hands of countries that fund terrorists.  Rather than develop technologies that would create living wage jobs and support farmers here in the US, Republicans have fought against and even dismantled programs that would have meant a more secure and independent country.

Joe Roberts says no more.

Join us on the flip for what we are doing about it.

Fighting Dem Spotlight on Florida - Taking Back the Sunshine State I

Sun Jul 23, 2006 at 09:58:13 AM PDT

Florida is important. It is the state that sent Bush to the White House (with a detour through the Supreme Court). There is hope that this election will turn Florida more blue than red - let's say a royal purple at least! Six veterans are running for U.S. Congress in Florida and they need our help. This Sunday we are spotlighting the first three of those races.

The Fight is on in Florida's First! UPDATE: Join the fight!

Thu Jul 06, 2006 at 06:26:18 PM PDT

Here's the deal: Howard Dean promised us a 50 State Campaign and, by God, it looks like it's happening. He can't do it all, though. The party needs you to get behind candidates and I've got one for you: Joe Roberts is running for the House from Florida's 1st District.

A Marine who served in Vietnam and continued to serve in the National Guard until 2005--including an active duty stint in Operation Enduring Freedom--Joe's a fighter.

Meet the Candidates in NW Florida

Mon May 22, 2006 at 08:00:08 PM PDT

Tonight was the monthly casual get-together for Democrats in Pensacola.  We have some good people here who are fighting hard to make some real, positive, changes for the Florida Panhandle and the United States.

Joe Roberts is running to replace Jeff Miller (R) as the Representative from District 1 of Florida.

Liz Campbell is running to replace Holly Benson (R) as State Representative in Tallahasse.

Both of these candidates are great people that I'd like to tell you more about on the flip.

FL-District 1, Who's running against Miller?!

Tue Jan 31, 2006 at 05:58:47 PM PDT

I'm looking for help. I want to know who is running in Florida's District 1... out here on the blood red conservative panhandle... nice white sandy beaches though...

Some Desultory Thoughts on Momma Dee and DC

Fri Dec 09, 2005 at 07:59:08 AM PDT

This diary considers the Republican party and its relationship to white hegemony.  So Momma D comes to Washington.  Disenfranchised, traumatized, rightfully exasperated, and equipped with too many stories to recount, she arrives to the Congressional hearing ready to air her concerns.  Rep. McKinney is receptive, and Momma Dee understands McKinney to be responsible for this rare opportunity to articulate her concerns.  Momma Dee showers her with gifts.

Equally outraged, McKinney prefaces the inquiry with three words whose resonance falls on the deaf ears of her Republican colleagues: poverty, war, inequality.  And she repeats: poverty, war, inequality.

Barry Welsh wrote this diary last night about this very subject. We have yet to field candidates in some 70 districts nationwide.
